1300 dead in European heatwave, WHO warns

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports more than 1,300 extra deaths since June 21 linked to the heatwave hitting Europe. France's public health institute (SPF) earlier recorded 1,000 more deaths than normal during the heatwave. Temperatures in France have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for the past week, breaking several records. Other European countries also saw record highs. Germany reached 41.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
