China Blacklists 20 Japanese Firms, Tightens Export Controls
China has added 20 Japanese companies to its export control list, restricting their access to sensitive goods and technology. The move, announced by the Ministry of Commerce, takes effect immediately. The listed entities are now prohibited from importing any items covered by China’s export control laws without special government approval. This includes materials and equipment that could be used for military purposes. Beijing stated the action is a routine measure to protect national security and comply with international non-proliferation obligations. It did not link the decision to any specific political dispute. The blacklist adds to growing trade tensions between the two nations. Japan has not yet issued an official response.
