A major Turkish teachers’ union has issued a stark warning as the 2025-2026 academic year ends, stating that schools are being transformed into “commercial marketplaces.” In its year-end report, Eğitim Sen criticized the system for moving away from science and secularism, while warning that child poverty and insecurity are deepening across the country.
