A top Sudanese militia leader has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The sentence was handed down on Tuesday for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The crimes were committed during the Darfur conflict between 2003 and 2004.
The ICC is a global court that prosecutes genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The court found the militia chief guilty of leading attacks on civilians in Darfur.
The violent campaign two decades ago left hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced.
