Europe’s Heatwave Kills Dozens; UK Bans Hosepipes

📡 Guardian · 1 min read ·
Heatwave-related deaths are rising in Spain, Italy, and France as Europe battles another day of extreme temperatures. In the UK, a temporary hosepipe ban has been announced in Kent as the region faces growing strain from the ongoing heatwave. South East Water, the local utility, stated that temperatures are expected to reach 31°C today and 33°C tomorrow. “To safeguard that shared supply and prevent any homes from facing a sudden loss of water, we sadly need to ask our communities to not use their hosepipes immediately,” the company said. It apologized for the disruption and thanked residents for helping to protect Kent’s water supply. The ban highlights the broader crisis across the continent, where record heat is straining infrastructure and endangering lives.
