Global media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) says Israel's military operations in Gaza are responsible for nearly half of all journalist deaths recorded worldwide this year.
The organization has documented 67 journalist deaths since January. It states that Israeli forces have killed 32 of these journalists in the Gaza Strip.
This makes Gaza the single deadliest region for journalists in 2025. Mexico ranks as the second-most dangerous country for media workers this year.
RSF defines a journalist as any person who contributes to newsgathering and information collection. The group advocates for press freedom and safety globally.
