The death toll from Hong Kong's deadliest fire in decades has risen to 160, police confirmed Tuesday. DNA testing identified another victim from the Wang Fuk Court housing estate in Tai Po.
Police Commissioner Joe Chow Yat-ming said six people remain missing. The next phase of the recovery operation will involve removing scaffolding to search for bodies.
Commissioner Chow also revealed that workers found a piece of bone on the ground. This occurred after crews cleared piles of bamboo from the fire-ravaged site.
The blaze is the city's most severe in over fifty years. Rescue and identification efforts are ongoing.
