Global tech giants Nvidia, Apple, and Micron are set to attend a major trade expo in China, even as Beijing moves to strengthen control over its artificial intelligence supply chain. The event, scheduled for next month, will feature American semiconductor and consumer electronics leaders alongside Chinese firms.
The participation comes amid rising tensions over technology exports and national security. Nvidia, a leading AI chipmaker, has faced US restrictions on selling its most advanced processors to China. Micron, a US memory chip manufacturer, was previously banned from China’s critical infrastructure market.
Beijing has been accelerating efforts to build a self-reliant AI ecosystem. The expo serves as a platform for Chinese companies to showcase domestic alternatives to foreign components. Analysts say the presence of US firms signals continued commercial interest in China’s vast market, despite geopolitical friction.
The event highlights a dual strategy: China welcomes foreign investment while simultaneously developing homegrown technology to reduce dependence. No major product launches or announcements have been confirmed.
