UK and France Rewrite Migrant Treaty After Smugglers Bring Deported People Back

The UK and France have been forced to rewrite a key migrant treaty after people smugglers found a way to bring deported migrants back to Britain. The original agreement, known as the “one in, one out” deal, allowed the UK to send people who arrived in small boats back to France. However, smugglers began using lorries to return those same individuals to the UK after they were removed. To stop this loophole, both countries updated the treaty. The goal is to prevent migrants from re-entering the UK after being deported to France under the deal.
