Right-wing candidate Abelardo de la Espriella is heading toward a narrow victory in Colombia’s presidential election, according to AFP. With over 99 percent of votes counted, de la Espriella had secured 49.67 percent of the vote. His left-wing rival, Iván Cepeda, received 48.69 percent, according to election officials.
De la Espriella, 47, is a self-declared admirer of Donald Trump and has received full support from the U.S. president, reports NTB. He has never held public office before.
