US President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened to strike Iran if it does not stop the Iran-backed group Hezbollah from "causing trouble." The warning came as senior US and Iranian officials began peace talks in Switzerland.
A memorandum of understanding signed Wednesday between the two countries calls for a halt to fighting on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, Israeli strikes on Lebanon continued. Israel says it is responding to projectiles fired by Hezbollah at its troops.
The threat from Trump raises new tensions just as diplomatic efforts move forward. Hezbollah is a powerful political and military group based in Lebanon that receives support from Iran.
