US Vice President Arrives in Switzerland as Iran Threatens Key Oil Route

U.S. Vice President Vance has arrived in Switzerland for talks with Iranian negotiators. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. About one-fifth of the world’s oil passes through it. The United States says the strait remains open for navigation. The talks in Switzerland aim to reduce tensions. Iran’s closure threat follows weeks of Israeli military operations in Lebanon. The U.S. has not confirmed any disruption to shipping traffic in the region.
