The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dare Bejide, says voter turnout was high in Saturday’s election but that the process was damaged by malpractices.
Bejide made the statement after casting his vote. He said law enforcement officers did not act on complaints he raised about irregularities at polling stations.
Vote rigging, also known as election malpractice, includes actions like ballot stuffing, intimidation, or tampering with results. The ADC candidate did not provide specific details on the types of malpractices he observed.
The election is being closely watched as a test of the state’s electoral system.
