The announcement on Monday adds to a series of recent problems for the world's most visited museum. Just one day earlier, the Louvre confirmed a major water leak occurred in late November. This follows an embarrassing theft nearly two months ago, where French crown jewels were stolen from a permanent collection. The museum also had to close a gallery between these two incidents. Union members will begin a rolling strike on Tuesday, June 25. They say years of underinvestment have led to deteriorating conditions that affect both staff and visitors.
