The Islamic Republic of Iran is now militarily weakened and economically drained following a joint Israeli-American offensive. Despite these pressures, Iranian leaders have so far remained united. However, according to Alain Frachon, a columnist for Le Monde, internal divisions may surface in the coming months. Frachon also notes that the root causes of the relentless anti-regime uprisings in the country have not disappeared.
