Iran will take immediate steps to reopen the Strait of Hormuz once a tentative agreement with the United States is signed, according to leaked copies of an interim deal. Officials confirm the leaked document broadly matches the official version.
Under the agreement, Iran will be allowed to sell its oil without restrictions. The deal also establishes a 60-day window for nuclear talks.
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway in the Persian Gulf. About one-fifth of the world's oil passes through it. Iran had previously threatened to block the strait amid rising tensions with the U.S.
The leaked document suggests both sides are moving toward de-escalation. However, the agreement remains interim, and the success of broader nuclear negotiations is uncertain.
Neither the U.S. nor Iran has officially commented on the leak.
