Paramount Global has submitted a counteroffer to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, valuing the deal significantly higher than a prior bid from Netflix. Paramount stated its proposal is worth up to $18 billion more.
The move directly challenges streaming rival Netflix, which had previously made an offer for the media conglomerate. Paramount publicly criticized Netflix's terms as insufficient.
The potential acquisition has drawn attention beyond the industry. Former U.S. President Donald Trump also previously criticized the Netflix proposal.
If successful, the deal would create one of the world's largest media companies, combining major film studios, television networks, and streaming services.
