Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Tuesday that society must change its rules and expectations as artificial intelligence becomes more common.
Huang, whose company makes the computer chips that power most AI systems, told an interviewer that adapting is not optional. “We have no choice but to change,” he said.
The executive has long been optimistic about AI. He predicts the technology will speed up economic growth and lead to more scientific breakthroughs.
But as the head of a company now building AI systems itself, Huang also feels the need to answer critics. Some warn that AI will destroy jobs. Others say it poses a threat to humanity.
Huang did not offer specific new rules. But he stressed that society needs to create “new social norms” to handle the rapid changes AI brings.
