A British teenager who created a public database of cryptocurrency laundering has been banned from entering Russia.
Alexander Browder, 17, is the subject of a travel ban imposed by the Kremlin. The teen’s project is an open-source database that tracks how criminals move digital money around the world.
Most young people his age focus on school, sports, or part-time jobs. Browder instead launched a passion project that caught the attention of Russian authorities.
The database logs global cryptocurrency laundering cases. It is freely available online. Russia’s travel ban is part of a wider sanction against Browder for his work.
The teen has not commented on the ban. His project continues to operate.
