A veteran student activist from South Africa’s 1976 Soweto uprising has issued a stark warning. Khusta Jack says the hard-won gains of the liberation struggle are being steadily dismantled by those in power today.
Jack, who fought against apartheid as a young activist, argues that the current government is eroding the very freedoms his generation sacrificed for. He fears that the principles of equality and justice, central to the 1976 protests, are now under threat.
The activist’s comments come amid growing frustration over corruption, economic inequality, and political infighting in South Africa. For many, Jack’s warning echoes a broader sense that the dream of a fair society is fading.
