BRUSSELS — The European Union announced a new round of sanctions on Monday, targeting 34 individuals and 47 entities linked to Russia’s war in Ukraine. The list includes Russia’s Lukoil-Western Siberia, two Chinese companies that supply drone components, and the Kremlin’s Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas described a recent attack on a monastery in Ukraine as a war crime. She did not provide further details on the attack but linked the new sanctions to ongoing violations.
The sanctions also target 15 people connected to the persecution and death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The measures aim to cut funding and supplies for Russia’s military operations.
