ÉVIAN, France – The last week of May was the hottest on record in France, and another heatwave is expected next week. Yet, as host of the G7 summit in Évian, President Emmanuel Macron has removed the term “climate change” from all official documents.
The decision aims to avoid upsetting U.S. President Donald Trump, who has questioned climate science in the past. By omitting the phrase, Macron hopes to keep the summit focused on other issues without provoking a confrontation.
The move comes as France swelters under extreme temperatures, highlighting a growing gap between political messaging and environmental reality.
