The Israeli army launched fresh strikes on the towns of Kfar Tebnit and Upper Nabatieh in southern Lebanon on Monday, despite an ongoing truce between Israel and Hezbollah. The attacks come just hours after the United States and Iran reached a separate deal, raising questions about the stability of the ceasefire.
The Israeli military said the strikes targeted militant infrastructure, but did not provide further details. Local Lebanese officials reported no immediate casualties. The truce, brokered by the U.S. and France last month, had largely halted cross-border fire since October.
The new offensive threatens to unravel the fragile peace. Hezbollah has not yet responded, but analysts warn that any violation could trigger a wider escalation. The U.S. State Department urged both sides to "exercise maximum restraint" and respect the ceasefire terms.
