G7 to Discuss Reopening of Strait of Hormuz After US-Iran Deal
G7 leaders will meet Monday in Evian, France, to discuss the long-term reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, French President Emmanuel Macron announced. The meeting comes ahead of a planned US-Iranian memorandum of understanding signing in Geneva on Friday. Macron said the talks will also cover support for Lebanon and the conclusion of an agreement on Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway in the Persian Gulf, is a critical passage for global oil shipments. Its reopening would affect international energy markets and shipping routes.
