A peace deal between the United States and Iran has been reached after nearly four months of conflict, President Donald Trump and senior Iranian officials announced Monday. The agreement puts an "immediate end" to the war, according to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, and also covers Lebanon.
The deal was struck despite an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon on Sunday, which drew criticism from both Iran and Trump. The Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, is expected to reopen under the terms of the accord.
