Iranian hardliners are fiercely rejecting a proposed peace deal with the United States, calling it a surrender. Critics inside Iran say the agreement fails to guarantee sanctions relief, compensation, or Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
“The fact that they say we won and America has retreated is a blatant lie,” said Iranian MP Kamran Ghazanfari. Meysam Nili, managing director of Rajanews and brother-in-law of former hardline president Ebrahim Raisi, described the deal as a “catastrophic capitulation.” He urged Iranians not to accept it quietly.
Supporters of the deal are now defending themselves against claims that the terms amount to a complete loss. The dispute highlights deep divisions within Iran’s political leadership over the agreement.
