Zelenskyy and Putin Both Call Trump: One Gets a Summit, the Other a Threat

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin each spoke with former U.S. President Donald Trump in separate phone calls. The conversations, which took place on the same day, produced very different results.
Zelenskyy’s call lasted 35 minutes. It led to a meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) major economies. During the call, Zelenskyy thanked Trump for U.S. military aid, from Javelin anti-tank missiles to Patriot air defense systems.
Putin’s call lasted 55 minutes. It resulted in another trip to Moscow by Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff. According to sources, Putin told Trump to order Zelenskyy to come to the Russian capital for negotiations.
