Iran is in its fifth year of drought. This week, the United States reportedly attacked a water reservoir in the country. The shrinking water supply weakens Iran’s position in ongoing peace talks, according to Stefan Döring, an assistant professor of peace and conflict research.
“The water shortage puts significant pressure on Iran,” Döring said.
