US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States is set to sign a new agreement with Iran as soon as Sunday. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed the deal would prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and would reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.
Trump wrote that Iran “no longer want a Nuclear Weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement.” He added that he reserves the “ultimate alternative” if Tehran refuses to sign the agreement. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital waterway for global oil shipments.
