Washington has ordered Anthropic, a leading US artificial intelligence company, to block foreign nationals from using its latest models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5. The Silicon Valley-based firm confirmed the directive, citing national security concerns.
The export-control measure is the first of its kind to target specific AI models. It came just days after Anthropic released the models, highlighting the US government’s increasingly direct approach to regulating frontier AI technology.
