Ukrainian forces are using drones to attack a key Russian military supply road, which soldiers now call the “highway of death.”
The route, known to Russian forces as the “Novorossiya” road, is a vital supply line. It runs through occupied Ukrainian territory along the Sea of Azov coast, connecting Rostov-on-Don in Russia to the cities of Melitopol, Mariupol, and Crimea.
In recent months, Ukrainian drones have gained control of the airspace above the road. They hunt down convoys of Russian military vehicles. As a result, Ukrainian troops have renamed the R-280 highway the “highway of death.”
