Sudanese Paramilitary Drone Strike Kills 33 Children at Kindergarten
A drone attack by Sudanese paramilitary forces struck a kindergarten in south-central Sudan on Friday, killing at least 50 people. Among the dead are 33 children, according to a statement from the Sudan Doctors’ Network. The attack occurred in the town of Kalogi in South Kordofan state. The medical group stated that paramedics responding to the initial explosion were then targeted in a "second unexpected attack." The rights group Emergency Lawyers confirmed the second strike in a separate statement on Saturday. The group tracks violence against civilians in Sudan’s ongoing conflict. It reported that the follow-up attack hit first responders as they treated survivors. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the main paramilitary group in Sudan, has not commented on the incident. The attack is one of the deadliest reported against civilians in recent months.
