The U.S. National Park Service has released its annual schedule of fee-free entry days for 2025. The calendar shows two notable changes from previous years.
The agency removed the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. (January 20) and Juneteenth (June 19) from the list of days when entrance fees are waived. It added a new fee-free day on June 14, which is Flag Day and also the birthday of former President Donald Trump.
The National Park Service manages over 400 sites. Approximately 100 of these charge standard entrance fees, which are waived on the designated days. The agency stated the calendar is reviewed and updated annually.
The change means visitors must pay standard entrance fees on MLK Day and Juneteenth next year. The Park Service did not provide a specific reason for the adjustment in its published announcement.
