Senior officials from Azerbaijan and Armenia met this week at the Doha Forum in Qatar. Their discussions focused on a roadmap for a final peace treaty and reconnecting the region through new transport links.
Both sides emphasized the strategic and economic importance of a planned transit corridor. Known as the "Zangezur Corridor" or "TRACECA" route, it would connect Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory. Officials stated this project would ease regional transit and boost trade.
The renewed dialogue marks a significant step in ongoing peace efforts. The talks in Doha built upon recent diplomatic momentum between the two nations, who have a long history of conflict.
A finalized peace agreement is expected to formally normalize relations. It would also establish the detailed framework for new infrastructure, including roads and railways, across the South Caucasus.
