A panel of leading global thinkers has laid out a stark roadmap for tackling inequality, war, and the limits of national politics.
At a recent event titled “Are We on the Road to Global Equality?” organized by the World Inequality Lab, three prominent voices delivered key warnings.
Economist Branko Milanović focused on the shifting dynamics of war and global power balances. He argued that current conflicts are reshaping international relations in ways that threaten progress on equality.
Thomas Piketty, another leading economist, stated that a global wealth tax is not just an option but an “inevitability.” He argued that without taxing the richest individuals and corporations across borders, inequality will continue to rise.
Philosopher Lea Ypi added a political dimension. She said the fight against capitalism must move beyond the borders of individual nation-states. According to Ypi, true change requires a transnational movement that can challenge global economic structures effectively.
