A new European Union migration policy could prevent rejected asylum seekers from reapplying in any other member state, raising concerns over human rights violations and increased deaths. Özgül Saki, a representative from the Migrant Solidarity Network, stated that the pact creates a joint rejection mechanism across EU countries. Under this system, if one nation denies a person’s asylum claim, that individual cannot submit a new application in any other EU country. Critics argue this rule risks pushing migrants into dangerous, illegal routes, leading to more rights abuses and fatalities.
