Thai Family Prepares to Bring Hostage's Remains Home After Two-Year Gaza Ordeal

The family of a Thai worker killed in the Hamas attack on Israel will finally hold a funeral, two years after his death. Sudthisak Rinthalak’s remains are among those being returned under the Gaza ceasefire agreement. His relatives in northeastern Thailand are preparing a Buddhist ceremony. They believe it will bring peace to his spirit after the long wait. “We’ll bring him home,” said his elder brother, Thepporn. Sudthisak was one of 47 hostages whose bodies Hamas has returned. The handover of deceased hostages was a key condition in the initial phase of the ceasefire deal. The agreement aims to end the war in Gaza. The return allows his family to complete traditional rites, providing a measure of closure. Their long vigil for his remains is now nearing an end.
