An air strike killed at least 18 people in central Myanmar on Friday evening, according to local sources. A rescue worker, a local official, and two residents confirmed the attack to Agence France-Presse.
The military dropped two bombs on Tabayin township in the Sagaing region. One bomb directly hit a busy teashop.
Myanmar has been in a state of civil war since the military seized power in a 2021 coup. The military frequently uses air strikes in its battles against anti-coup fighters, and these attacks often result in civilian casualties.
