Senator Susan Collins has called her Democratic challenger, Graham Platner, too extreme for Maine voters. The Republican senator argues that Platner, who is backed by Senator Bernie Sanders, holds positions that are too far left for the state.
Platner has responded by labeling Collins the “radical” candidate in the race. The two candidates are now trading accusations over who is more out of step with Maine’s electorate. The contest is expected to be a key race in the upcoming election.
