China successfully launched a group of new internet satellites into orbit on Thursday. The mission marked a significant step in the country's space technology, utilizing a more environmentally friendly rocket fuel for the first time.
A Long March-8 rocket carried the satellites from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site. This was the rocket's fifth flight.
The launch introduced a new type of rocket fuel made from coal. This coal-based kerosene is designed to be cleaner and more efficient than traditional rocket fuels. Experts state it can reduce costs and improve the sustainability of space missions.
The satellites will join China's growing satellite internet network. Such networks aim to provide high-speed internet access to remote and underserved regions across the globe.
