Egypt has called for an international force to help stabilize Gaza and verify a future ceasefire. The proposal suggests deploying the force along the border, known as the "yellow line," to oversee the agreement.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry emphasized that his country will not permit the Rafah border crossing to facilitate the displacement of Palestinians. "We will not allow the Rafah crossing to be used as a gate for displacement or for putting people out of their homeland," Shoukry stated.
The initiative aims to create a secure environment following a truce. An international monitoring presence would help build confidence and ensure compliance with ceasefire terms.
Egypt has been a key mediator in negotiations between Israel and Hamas. The proposal for a stabilization force represents a concrete step in its ongoing diplomatic efforts for long-term peace in the region.
