Climate Activists Arrested After Targeting Crown Jewels Display at Tower of London

British police arrested four protesters on Wednesday after they smeared food on the protective case of a historic crown inside the Tower of London. The incident targeted the display containing the "Imperial State Crown," a diamond-encrusted artifact used in coronation ceremonies. The activist group Just Stop Oil claimed responsibility for the action. In a statement, the organization said it was a protest against the UK government's licensing of new oil and gas projects. Officers from the City of London Police responded to the scene inside the Jewel House, a secure museum within the historic fortress. Authorities confirmed the display case suffered only minor damage and the Crown Jewels themselves were not harmed. The four individuals remain in custody on suspicion of criminal damage. Historic Royal Palaces, the charity managing the site, stated that the Jewel House was temporarily closed but has since reopened to visitors.
