Turkey’s Justice Minister has announced an investigation into Rahmi Koç, one of the country’s most prominent businessmen. The probe follows comments Koç made that officials say insult women and violate social sensitivities.
“Statements that damage women’s honor, hurt their dignity, and are incompatible with our social sensitivities are never acceptable, no matter who says them,” Minister Yılmaz Tunç said in a statement.
The investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. No further details about the specific remarks or potential charges have been released. Koç, the honorary chairman of the Koç Holding conglomerate, has not yet commented publicly.
