A group of nuns living under one of the strictest vows of silence in Sweden is being forced to relocate. Their convent in Glumslöv, a quiet village in southern Sweden, has become surrounded by the sounds of traffic and the smell of barbecues from a nearby housing development.
The disruption has become too great for the cloistered order, which values stillness and prayer. To solve the problem, architect Carl Kylberg has taken on what he calls the strangest assignment of his career: moving the nuns—both the living and the dead.
