Beijing's national security office in Hong Kong has warned foreign news organizations against crossing legal "red lines." The office called the meeting following news reports it said unfairly criticized the government's fire relief efforts and attacked the Legislative Council election.
Representatives from several major international outlets attended the meeting. These included Agence France-Presse, the Financial Times, The New York Times, the Associated Press, and Bloomberg News, according to sources and reports.
The warning emphasizes Beijing's focus on national security in Hong Kong. It directs foreign media to operate within the boundaries of local laws.
