One mother in Hong Kong still does not know if her daughter died in a deadly residential fire more than a week ago. The blaze at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po killed at least 159 people.
The woman, surnamed Ng, fears her daughter may be one of two victims found in a rented flat. Authorities are conducting DNA tests to confirm their identities.
"My daughter’s cousin also lived there, but she had class that day and was not home,” Ng said on Saturday before crying. She added that her daughter had recently graduated.
The tragedy highlights the ongoing psychological toll on survivors and families. Many must wait for official identifications while grieving their losses.
