Lesotho's telecommunications regulator has found Vodacom Lesotho guilty of unfair business practices. The Communications Authority ruled that the company, a subsidiary of the South African Vodacom Group, altered customer contract terms without proper notice.
The changes affected postpaid subscribers. The authority stated Vodacom made these modifications without prior communication to its customers.
This action violates the country's Communications Act. The act requires service providers to inform users of any changes to their agreements.
The regulator has imposed a financial penalty on Vodacom. The company must also inform all affected customers of the changes and provide them with an option to cancel their contracts without penalty.
