The United States military struck a tanker and several sites on Iran’s Qeshm Island on Tuesday, while also defending allies Kuwait and Bahrain from Iranian missile attacks.
The exchange of fresh missile and drone strikes further threatens Washington’s efforts to secure a new ceasefire agreement with Tehran.
US forces fired a Hellfire missile to disable a tanker that was attempting to break the American blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Later, the military said it repelled Iranian retaliatory attacks in the region and struck additional targets on Qeshm Island.
