Indian authorities have arrested a woman accused of smuggling tiger parts. Yangchen Lachungpa was detained in the eastern state of West Bengal.
Interpol, the international police organization, had issued a wanted notice for Lachungpa. She is suspected of building smuggling routes, or trafficking corridors, to move illegal wildlife goods out of India.
The arrest is part of a wider crackdown on the illegal trade in tiger parts. These items are often used in traditional medicine and fetch high prices on the black market, threatening endangered species.
Indian officials have not released further details about the specific charges or the operation. The case highlights ongoing international cooperation against wildlife crime.
