Turkish defense company ASELSAN has released new test footage of its GOKSUR Close-In Air Defense System. The footage demonstrates the system's capability to engage and destroy incoming threats at very short range.
GOKSUR is designed to protect naval vessels as a last line of defense. It is engineered to be highly effective against modern, low-flying "sea-skimming" missiles, which are difficult for radar to detect.
The system uses a multi-barrel gun that fires a high volume of ammunition in a short time. This creates a dense defensive wall to intercept fast-approaching targets. Such systems, known as CIWS (Close-In Weapon Systems), are critical for modern warships.
The release of the test video signals that the system is in an advanced stage of development. ASELSAN states GOKSUR will serve as a vital shield for the Turkish Navy, enhancing fleet survivability against asymmetric threats.
